TASC Teen Stories
Meet Henry!
My name is Henry, and I attend Rogers Heritage. I’ve been active with TASC for a year now. I participate in a variety of programs, including in-service events and teen parties. There are many fun and engaging people here, and I get to help others while working with my peers. TASC does an excellent job of ensuring that everyone is volunteering, participating, and playing an active role.
I want to go to college and study audio production and sound engineering.
You should come to TASC! I was initially unsure, but I’ve learned a lot about other people and gained insights into different things I can do in the future. There are also helpful lessons on things like going to the DMV, getting your permit, and preparing for your license.
Before joining TASC, I had very little community service experience. It’s great that I found a place to earn my service hours. The projects are very engaging, and everyone actively participates. Every time I walk in, I feel welcomed, like I’m being greeted with open arms. I’ve had the chance to clean a cat litter box and volunteer at the Diaper Collective. Both activities involved a lot of collaboration and working with my peers. It’s not just about cleaning—it’s about teamwork.
I attend a lot of parties and always feel welcomed. I feel like I have people here who can offer support if I want to pursue something in the future. They would help me achieve my goals. If you need something to do, you should definitely come to TASC. It’s given me so many opportunities. TASC is amazing, with a variety of programs, many of which I didn’t even know existed. I initially thought it was just about community service, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much of a community it truly is.
Meet Sophya!
My name is Sophia Moreno and I go to Heritage high school and I’ve been active in TASC for one year. I participate in mentoring. It helped me a lot with time management, calming my nervous system, and preparing for the ACT. I plan on applying to colleges and doing a lot of community work.
TASC is a great opportunity, even if you don’t have a lot of time, TASC has a lot of opportunities to join and you’ll be feeling so good once you enter the TASC community. Before TASC I didn’t know how to time manage myself, I was focusing on work. Once I came into TASC, I started thinking about more school stuff and balancing my life so I know what to do after high school. Once I come in, I feel so good, every time I’m in TASC.
I feel so welcome and everyone here is so nice. TASC has helped me with volunteer hours and also ACT prep. It has made me feel like I have an opportunity to grow mentally and set up my goals, organize what I wanna do and also organize what I’m doing right now. when you’re in your senior year, you’re so nervous about whether or not you’re going to college but if you have some time to enjoy something, you can actually go to TASC. Which can be a lot of fun and take away some of your nerves. I feel welcome when I come in.
Meet Simon!
I’m Simon Garcia and I go to middle school. I’ve been active with TASC this semester. I like doing the diaper collective, and going to TASC parties and I like doing arts and crafts. TASC is great and you will have lots of fun if you go to TASC. TASC makes me feel good because I can help people if they don’t have the money for diapers. My friends at school should come to TASC.
Meet Kathy!
My name is Kathy, I’m 15 years old and I’m in 10th grade. I go to Rogers New Technology High school and I live in Rogers, Arkansas.
What inspired me to join and start volunteering here at TASC was from when I enrolled into Lingle Middle School in 6th grade, TASC had decided to do a presentation at my school I was inspired to join about three years later when I was in 9th grade when they did the same thing again at my current school. One memorable experience when I first started coming here was when I came to my first ever TASC events they were holding in The Hub. It was a very memorable experience for me because that’s when I first met Brady. We were making Suncatchers. Brady, I remember her because when I was in middle school she would either be working in her mother’s library or subbing in for a teacher.
I think Teen Volunteers are important to the community because it helps the community get familiar with the future helpers of the society. Giving us an opportunity to prove ourselves worthy to be the future leaders of our community. How has volunteering helped me with connecting to others? Well, it’s given me and helped me move one step closer to being able to help myself with my mental health. Giving me steps for my future so that I wouldn’t have to be as stressed as I would normally be heading into adult life.
My volunteer experience in three words has been, Amazing, Fun, and worth my Time. Yes I could be at home helping my family, but what they want for me is to go out more and make friends, spend my teen years worth experiencing. If I could create a Volunteer project, I would love it if we could possibly one day go to the rogers public library and help the librarians there take care of books and put them back where they belong.
The Teen Action Support Center has been amazing, basically giving me another welcoming family just from the community. I feel safe and welcome every time I come here. I wanna wish one day we could possibly expand more and welcome more teens from around Northwest Arkansas.
Meet Levi!
Hi my name is Levi, I’m in 8th grade at Lincoln Jr. High. I found TASC through my mom. She wanted me to start going and doing stuff so she was trying to find a camp or something and she found Bucket List Summer. Every morning we would come to the Hub, we got a little bit of breakfast, waited for everyone to get here, and then we would all get into the vans and go to the places for that day. We did kayaking, rock climbing, we even went horseback riding. The horseback riding was new for me, it was my first time. I stayed on the whole time! I learned that I could do all of those things. It was my first time for a lot of things; climbing too. It was pretty fun, they had us doing beginner rock wall climbing at first but then after I tried it I even went to the free climbing room where you don’t have to be hooked into anything. I also met a few friends during summer camp.
Before I was doing this, I was hanging out with the wrong people, but now I’m just starting to have new friends. Summer could have looked different for me. Now I’m not doing stuff I shouldn’t be doing, I’ve been doing the right thing.
TASC is a fun place where you can go do fun stuff you’ve probably never done before. I would recommend TASC to really anybody, any teen in the area.
Meet Emily!
Hello! My name is Emily Almaraz, and I’ve been a part of the Teen Action and Support Center since this past summer. It might not seem like a long time, but these last few months have been so meaningful to me. What I love about TASC is the energy, the enthusiasm of the staff leaders, and the smiles and warmth that greet you the moment you walk through the door.
It is a place where everyone is welcome to share their thoughts, laugh, learn, and just be themselves. The people are so genuine and care deeply. You almost feel at home. I would say it feels like a second family. TASC brings people together, and I honestly cannot express enough appreciation for this. When we come together, we not only support each other but also truly listen, understand, and grow side by side. You start to realize how easily we can build meaningful connections and how much stronger we become as a community through these interactions. Every conversation and activity serves as a reminder of how wonderful it is to be a part of something greater than yourself.
I believe this has helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. Not just as a leader but also as a friend and someone who genuinely wants to make a difference. I’ve realized that supporting one another doesn’t always have to be some sort of grand gesture. Sometimes it’s the little things that count like a smile, kind words, or simply just showing up for one another.
To me, TASC is a community that inspires you to be your best self, not because you have to, but because you truly want to. I hope my words and experiences show how much of a positive impact this community can have in our lives and the differences that we’re capable of making. Thank you.
Meet Nathaly!
My name is Nathaly and I’m a 10th grader at Heritage. I found TASC by a meeting that was going on at Heritage; that’s where I met Brady! Then I submitted an application and my dad brought me to orientation. I generally come to all kinds of projects; most often I go to things like the Diaper Collective where we volunteer and different art projects.
I learned that I’m more artistic than I thought. For a while I was drawing, painting, and using dry clay but I had stopped. Then I started coming here and creating more art again. I’ve been able to make more friendships and found my mentor, Brady! I’ve met people who care about me at TASC. I would say that because of my time here I feel a little bit more confident about myself, like talking in public. I usually don’t ever talk in public; I feel shy at school. But now that I’m at TASC it helps me develop my skills with people. I have found people here that listen to me and help me find ways to solve problems.
I feel like TASC helps the community more. Like especially when we go to the Diaper Collective, it helps people who are maybe teen parents or can’t afford diapers, and we get to help package donations for them. We also do the social events for teens!
Meet Kestrel!
Hi I’m Kestrel, I’m 15 and I go to Arkansas Arts Academy! I found TASC when I was on probation and had to do it for court requirements. At first I was very skeptical, but once I started going I really enjoyed it. I normally go to the Hub and things like skating events and other stuff that I really enjoy a lot; it’s very fun and I would highly recommend it. I definitely go to a variety of different types of events like park cleanups, dog toy making, and art stuff and a bunch of different things!
Something new I’ve learned at TASC is probably how to build good relationships, the good traits I have, and about serving the community. I’ve made many different friends here from all different backgrounds and different personalities. They’ve definitely made me feel better about myself and have encouraged me to do better in academics and encouraged me to just be an overall better person.
When I first came to TASC I was a very rebellious person, I was very self centered. But once I came to TASC, I honestly have been putting more people first and just have been a more chill and better person overall. When I first started probation, I didn’t have a lot of places to go for fun. I just decided that I should be going to TASC even after I finished my probation requirements because I really enjoy it and it’s a fun, safe place to go. It’s just peace of mind for everybody that you’re going to a safe environment.
TASC helps with a lot of different problems in the community; for example, people who don’t have a lot of money or need food, period products, diapers, things like that. We also get to help places like animal shelters, collecting donations that will help the animals to be happy. It just helps out everybody!
TASC is an perfect place for teens to flourish and grow. I think TASC is an amazing place for teens to go and have fun and help out the community.
Meet Giovanni!
My name is Giovanni Jr. I’m going into the 11th grade in Arkansas Arts Academy. I live in Rogers, AR. It was originally my grandmother and my aunt that found this place for me. They figured I can be with other teens that are like me, to make friends here or be around people I
can relate with. Usually I do community service hour activities with TASC, but also I do fun activities like Anime Night for example! Also other food nights and I always come to the Hub. At TASC I experience, you know, how to socialize with other people and how to agree on something with other kids. Since I started coming to TASC, I’ve learned that I’m not a mistake and that I’m special like everyone else. I have made different friends here; there’s this guy at TASC, he talks to me a lot. We do a lot of things together like stuff that involves volunteering, anime nights, field trips, and we even did Bucket List Summer together this year! Since I’ve been a part of TASC, well I mean, it’s just helped me a lot with things like helping me socialize with other people and they let me be myself because I wear my sunglasses a lot because they make me feel safe. Sometimes I even take off my sunglasses and show my face.
I guess TASC is to help teens like me learn to socialize, do things together, or help with their struggles. I would recommend TASC all over the place. There are millions of states and countries out there with teens that need help; especially the ones that, you know, don’t do so
good and need a lot of mentors. Any teen that could use support and structure too, should come to TASC.
Meet Charlotte!
For me, TASC has really changed how confident I am. I have become more confident in socializing. I became more confident in helping my community and knowing how I can be a help. I definitely feel a lot more confident in my future through TASC.
It’s helped me learn how to do things that I’m going to need to know when I’m older. It helps teens socialize and learn responsibility and discipline.
I’ve been very surprised at how welcoming everybody is at TASC. You can be yourself here and nobody’s going to judge you for it.
I have made so many friends at TASC. I met so many great people through summer camp and I’m very much still in touch with them all. We hang out, talk, and they’ve become life long friends for me.
I just want people to know that TASC is a very fun program that I think everyone should do. It’s helped me so much and I’ve met so many new people. I’ve had all these new experiences and got to try so many cool things. I just think that it would definitely help anyone who is trying to put themselves out there or learn more about how they can be involved with their community.
Meet Kylen!
My name is Kylen, I’m a 12th grader in Springdale. I found TASC when I was looking for something to do; I looked around online and it popped up. I just googled “volunteering work” and there was TASC! I’ve been enjoying TASC a lot so I’ve been trying all kinds of new things. I live closer to the Station (in Springdale) but I really like it so I go to both sites.
There’s a lot of new things I’ve done at TASC, just to name one is that I’ve never made bracelets before but I got to do that here. So far I’ve been able to recognize a lot of people from TASC; I get excited to go and see those people. I know quite a few teens and am friends with a few now but always meeting more and more
I’m definitely better at putting myself to work than I originally assumed I was; I can get stuff done! I definitely like volunteering and helping other people out, so now I think if I can find a way to do that in the future and continue helping out, like maybe even working at TASC some day, that would be a good future for myself.
I’ve always thought that I was not very helpful because I would just sit at home 5 days a week and be bored out of my mind not knowing what to do. So that would be two ways TASC has changed my life, I’m not ever bored anymore and have something to do, and also that I’m helping.
I definitely think TASC is impactful in a good way; it helps the community out with little things here and there.
I definitely think everyone should try TASC because it’s really fun, helpful, and just something that’s worth the try
